RESPECT

Respect. Not only is it reciprocal, it is of a copernican nature; important and now radically different. Respect just implies giving someone who is not necessarily above you some level of recognition, that’s how I see it. Elites see it as a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. Now respect isn’t just something the younger one has to show the elder one rather its something even the elder has to show first before being reciprocated by the younger. You had to first respect yourself if you would have others respect you. Respect for ourselves guides our morals, respect for others guides our manners. And our morals and manners both go a long way in making us better individuals.
Respect in the African home is something we must have been conversant with because as africans we are compelled to show it even though we may be reluctant to do so. Indeed it is quite important as it opens good doors in our lives. No matter who the person is, show him or her some form of respect. Just show it!
